Solution

2.4ghz Wi Fi

So I had a new router sent to me the last time I renewed my contract for broadband fibre1. about 2 years ago.

I had a few bits of equipment like wireless adapters that stopped working but it wasnt a biggy so I thought it must be the equipment. I recently had some Wi fi security cameras installed around the house and the engineer who installed them check they were working with his own company system. This is where it gets worse. My new expensive cameras cannot detect the 2.4ghz and after 4 hours on the useless chat thingy and a useless telephone call it now appears the router switches the 2.4ghz off after a few minutes following a reboot each time. The useless advisors can't seem to accept the fact its broken and going by the posts there are quite a lot of peeps on here having same problem. I have an app on my tablet that shows available networks and it shows the 2.4ghz dissapears after a few minutes activity but the 5ghz remains good. Surely after all this time they must know there is a problem with these routers/hubs but they are refusing to replace them. They even did a failed firmware upgrade which left me unable to connect to router via the app. Today they sent another firmware update through which seems like an older version as some settings that where in the old firmware they say are no longer available i.e changing the 2.4ghz channel instead of it being fixed to auto. It did work for about 3 mins then 2.4ghz went off never to be seen again. I wonder if there is anyone out there with a bit of clout reading these posts or is it like the chat bot....falling on deaf ears. I have emailed a random vodafone email address I found today as life it too short to spend anothe 4 hours I'll never get back but I suspect no one will answer. As the great Mike Nelson (scuba diver) once said "Don't hold yer breath"

P.S. Anyone fancy all getting a report together for BBC Watchdog??

@Adrianblack

When replying to posts it is a good idea to quote the post, or at least the posters name, so we know who you are replying to.

@Adrianblack Please do not shout. I was trying to get you to tell us what you are attempting to connect to the router so that we can help you. I explained why I asked the question and obviously you don't want any help.

So good luck, and I hope you get a resolution, but I am not going to contribute.
