I’m using the standard Vodafone broadband router; but if I try to set a simple password for the wifi; it doesn’t allow me to set it! How can I make it allow any password I want for the wifi?
thanks,
Dudley Delderfield.

Finding out the name of the router is not exactly difficult. 😀

Ooooh… it is much more difficult than persuading Vodafone to share its proprietary firmware and its router security implementation with random users and hacking the XXXxxxx router it seems. Do you think Vodafone will bin me for sharing one of its closely guarded secrets? 😁

It is, and if you search the web you will find various threads where people are trying to hack it so they can run different firmware, but nobody (AFAIK) has succeeded yet,
But you are welcome to try, please do let us know if you succeed.
EDIT A little more info. It is based on the same hardware as the Technicolor DGA4231, but getting the Firmware for that (or any Technicolor router) is also seemingly impossible. If you succeed in finding that firmware, also let me know as I have one of those as well.

Do hope I haven't given away any secrets
