I have been using the grey VF THG3000 modem for a few years and have connected many wifi devices to an SSID and pw I have been using for ages. I have some boosters that have picked up that SSID also and done a good job of boosting the signal around my house.
I recently decided to change both the SSID & pw but when I accessed the modem settings via the web I see that the reported SSID and pw and completely different to the one I have been using!. The label on the modem corresponds the SSID & pw that are reported on the web page info.
This is so confusing, can some one explain whats going on here please? No, its not next door's wifi before anyone asks.
Thanks

As you say, very confusing.
I would suggest turning off the boosters, and see if you can still connect with your chosen SSID and password.
Also see if the routers original SSID is being broadcast.

Seriously don't click on it, Virus Total has flagged it.

It sounds like your modem might be broadcasting multiple SSIDs—one being the default and another customized previously. Check if your boosters are extending a different SSID or if a guest network is active. Resetting the modem and reconfiguring the SSID and password can help.
