Following an Android update, the Samsung S9 no longer has WPS support. How do I connect to the Vodafone broadband app without WPS?

Hi @gh2410 Are you running the most recent version of the app? I'd definitely recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app if you haven't already.

Thanks, I already tried on 2 separate devices. It won’t work.

How do I escalate this further please?

Everytime I look for help on here or online chat helpline I get asked the same questions over and over again asking me to perform the same steps over and over again.
It is not acceptable.
Also tried twitter and Facebook messenger. ....same simple suggestions, power down, reboot, reinstall etc etc

Hi Vodafone and New Customers (I guess your new as you wouldn't be on this forum or searching google for help).

Just so you guys know i'm very experienced in IT with security/support/networking/infrastructure/architecture/scripting/hacking etc I work in IT Security and during my career i have been a Network Security Engineer  / "Ethical Hacker" / Security Architect / Consultant etc etc.

I've just had the 1gb line installed at home and it came with a smart booster/alexa.

Now i've never in my life tested/installed/setup anything so bad in all my life.  Clearly you guys at Vodafone need some guidance.  Do your testers not feedback to the developers?  Do you not review User Experience or have you guys even tested setting it up yourselves?  It's awful.  Do you not have a Roadmap/Strategy.  When you develop do you not have weekly meetings to discuss integration.  You've got one of the best deals on the market but your firmware/operating system is terrible.  What is the point in the app on the phone?  It's utter dog ##~##.

Seriously why have you locked down the so called "Expert" portal to the router?????  Why can't i configure the firewall?  It's my network and i want to protect it?  Why can't i install a VPN on the router?

Clearly you've got some good staff but they need managing properly.  If you need someone to help i'm a contractor (not currently available but could be for the right price).  You guys should and could easily be market leaders but my god your Development team and your Professional services/support need to communicate and they need direction because whoever's running that department  hasn't got a clue what they are doing.

Good luck i'm sending the stuff back and cancelling.  I'm not paying for something that has no security.  You'll reply saying it does but lets face it.  If you can't configure an app or a router then you aint going to be able to look after my firewall.  Give me a shout if you decide you'd like a shakeup and start building the company and making some money

Unfortunately, I don't think Vodafone actively monitors these forums for feedback.  There's no one here but us chickens!

I'd be surprised though with your background that any ISP supplied router would really cut it!  Still, at least VF has moved on from the days where if you told them your cat had died, their suggestion would be to have you try splitting the SSIDs!

Draytek Vigor130 with Asus GT-AX6000 running merlin, with tunnelled IPv6, VPN director, multiple selectable DNS (including SmartDNS) and much more...

HAHAHA i remember those days,  T-Mobile were like that .  Actually so were BT. but they messed up put5ting the company secretary's name and phone number on moneysavingexpert the first week the website launched.  U git a great deal phoning the chairman directly haha.  what numpty's

I do apologise got having a bit of a rant but at least it's not that bad :Smiling:

I do indeed have my own kit and was never going to use the one they sent but i did test it.  It really wound me up because you've got to put yourself in an old persons shoes.  Could my grandmother or even my parents set this up.  None of it was plug and play apart from the router which must have signal issues otherwise i wouldn't have been sent a booster.  There's some really basic issues in my opinion.  Like most phone's run on 2.4ghz and there are devices that aren't compatible with 5ghz.  I haven't even got permissions to disable that.  Most folk don't keep up to date with tech and probably have computers that don't support 5GHZ.  Funnily enough it took a wireshark capture of my smart home device to realise that was locking up the vodafone infrastructure.  I know any Techie would have no problems but how's the general public going to know.

It's my opinion but of all the projects i''ve been part of and even the ones i've deployed there's no way that'd get signed off as being ready for sale.  It's a real shame.  After me ranting LOL i can't lie.  I can't send it back.  I've got 1gb fibre to my house for £16.50 a month!  Fixed for 24 months.  With free landline calls.  I love Vodafone hahah

Unfortunately you wont be able to use them if you use your own kit. (unless you can work out how to. in which case please enlighten us)

Hi

No, I haven't been able to resolve the issue. I think it's due to my mobile (samsung S9) doesn't have a WPS option and this appears to be the only way the router can connect to the app.
