I recently signed up for Vodafone Fibre and they said I wouldn't need an engineer, just connect the box and go (after my line is activated). My activation day was today and it apparently came online at midday.
My flat doesn't have an OpenReach ONT, I just have 3 (yes 3, not sure why) phone sockets. Vodafone didn't provide a microfilter in my kit but I managed to find an old one. I've tried connecting the DSL cable into the microfilter, then the microfilter into each phone socket, but none of them seem to work.
This is a rented property which I know was recently vacated, it just seems impossible that they didn't have broadband so I'm wondering why it won't work? I've spoken to Vodafone tech support who got me to reset the router multiple times with no luck. They wanted me to video share to see the socket but my area has terrible signal so it was hard to show any of the sockets clearly, so now they've booked an Openreach engineer to come... but the next available slot is the 13th Feb.
I'm just really frustrated because whenever I've got Fibre in the past, an engineer has come to fit a socket, why do Vodafone not do this?
Any help would be much appreciated, as I'm willing to get the right kit if it means getting online before the 13th.
Thanks!

Openreach will not fit a socket (be it a phone socket or an ONT) unless their records show you don't already have one.
So the first question is, are you in a location that has Full Fibre available?

Ah ok. No my location cannot get full fibre, i've got fibre to the cabinet. Does that mean I would just connect to the phone socket with a microfilter? Thanks for the reply

Yes that would be the way to do it. One of the phone sockets will be the master, and it's best to use that one, the extensions will either not work, or may give reduced performance.
What type of primary socket have I got? | BT Help
Edit: There have been reports on here that Vodafone no longer include a microfilter with the router, so If you don't already have one, and you don't have a pre-filtered master socket you will need to contact Vodafone.

Ok makes sense.
My socket looks like the top image, just a plain box with a singular phone input.
Yeah I didn't get a microfilter so went and got one from a local computer shop. I have tried all 3 sockets with no luck, and the landlord says the previous tenant definitely had broadband. very odd. I guess there's a possibility the microfilter is busted but seems unlikely. Thanks again for your help.

If you remove the front from the sockets, the one with the capacitor (large round/rectangular object) is the master socket,
Unfortunately when when you move in somewhere new, it's impossible to say just what may have happened before.

I'm not at home right now but i have a feeling the one with the capacitor is the one with all the wires disconnected, i'll give it a go re-wiring. thanks

Unless there's been a fault previously on openreach's cable only connect white and orange. Just the two wires needed. You may need an IDC tool to make proper connection.

Thanks, i'll try and see if i can trace it. It's a tad difficult as it's an old victorian house converted into 8 flats but i'll see what i can find
