Use my own router with Gigafast

Hi there,

I am having my installation of FTTP this week for the Pro Gigafast 900.

I already have a mesh network with 3x WiFi 6 routers at my property. As Vodafone only supplies WiFi 5 router, I want to keep my existing routers and take advantage of my Mesh network.

I have found in other threads here in the forum that I can use my own router, but there is the question about the VLAN and what setting to use. Can someone help me with that?

Cheers!

So you will need your connection username (ends in @broadband.vodafone.co.uk) and password and the VLAN ID is usually 911.

How you express that VLAN ID depends on the router make and model.  Some newer routers allow the VLAN ID on the WAN connection page along with the account details, while others use other methods such as setting it through the old (ought to be defunct) IPTV settings.  In some rare instances, people have found it necessary to use a switch or other device between the router and the ONT/PON/GPON to inject the VLAN ID.

At least if you get the settings wrong, then unlike xDSL, you are not going to be rate-limited!
