I have definately made more than one edit to a post since the time restriction came in, however you do need to be quick.

I estimate it to be about 3 minutes,.

Less than that? I posted once, immediately edited which took about 60 seconds or so and hit the timeout.

Originally added to stop spammers popping back to add (dodgy) links to their posts. I quickly learned to reread my posts for errors before posting. 

I agree with the decision, but I wonder if there's any way for the mods/admin to disable it for established members, either by rank or by post count.

As far as I understand @Ripshod it would mean removing the restriction for everyone.  The SPAM seems to have stopped, certainly something for the Social Team to look at.

my issue is I have been updating the how-to-use a third-party router thread for the last 4 years it has 130987 Views and is still a very current thread I get pm from users asking me to update the router list. but because of the edit issue I am no longer able to edit and update the thread
