NUC not unlocking Sony Xperia XZ

I have followed the instructions on the Vodafone site and received the NUC for my old Sony handset but when I enter it, it just says unsuccessful. 

What can be done to unlock the phone?

Hi Richy, I've been through that loop and have heard nothing back. You can see how long ago that was. 

I hope you have better luck but unless there's a miracle I'll be jumping over to Virgin along with my son.

Update - new code received...

Guess what!?

It doesn't work and now my phone is permanently sim locked!

Oh heck that's not good

If a person uses up all the available attempts to unlock then the phones counter can be reset by letting Vodafone have the phone.

Not the best scenario at all !

The quicker phones are supplied unlocked to all network's out of the box the better imo.
