Error code 38

Hi

I am getting error code 38 SMS messages they are not being sent to old iPhones, non Android devices and old Androids.

Code 38 is no network but I have full 4G

I am having to speak to people

All of the normal fixes do not work

Any recommendations?

Hi @Masonicmoron 

A Google Search says pretty much the same as you on other forums and some suggests a reset of the  Network settings in the phone.

As a process of elimination can you try your sim card in another phone and is this happening in one place or intermittently everywhere ?

You can check your local and surrounding masts via the Status-checker  and Vodafone have a help thread along with a template via Network-issues-initial-checks-and-template. 

Other suggestions are the sms messaging centre number 》 How-do-I-set-up-text-messages. 

Others suggest using a different text app.

Thanks for the recommendation

I have full network coverage as some SMS are going through and others are not at the same time.

It looks like it is Vodafone only as it can not be replicated on other networks.

Any other recommendations?

I have had this happen on other networks too @Masonicmoron  and usually this self resolves by itself or @Masonicmoron re sending the text.

Sometimes having a sim card swapped out at the store can help if it's indeed the sim card that is failing.
