My experience with Wi-Fi Calling on new phone

Hi,

 

I recently upgraded to a Galaxy S22 bought directly from Samsung.

I was concerned that Wi-Fi Calling wouldn't work as it wasn't bought from Vodafone, but I was relieved to find it did. However, like many, it stopped working after a reset.

 

I contacted Vodafone who advised it was enabled on my account but if I text CALLING to 97888 it would get activated. It didn't.

 

Inspired by something I read somewhere online I thought I'd put the SIM back in my old phone. I then started up both phones. I then put the phone back in my S22. It worked immediately.

 

It seems that the OTA update to the phone is only sent when initially activating Wi-Fi Calling or using a new phone (or spending hours speaking with Vodafone).

Hope this helps others with the same issue.
