N9 Lite - Radio help

hello,

i am very new to smartphones and have a new vodafone n9 lite and i want to listen to the radio but i cannot tell if i need to listen to it through the internet or not. my old non 'smart' phone had a radio which didn't require the internet.

any answer, tips advice would be great

The online manual just says a person need to use headphones as they act as the antenna and quality of stations relies upon the radio masts. 

As a process of elimination to see if internet access is needed then please turn Off Wi-Fi and Mobile Data in the phone's settings and attempt to use the radio @jldougal

Could you update your thread with your findings in order to help anyone else searching for similar help ?

so i switched off wifi and the radio still works providing you use headphones.
