One would assume the need for a VPN is purely for privacy purposes of course, I can't advise on the use of VPN's for any other means.
There are various apps and services for Android, there's a good guide here about how to set one up.

Yes, one thing is for sure that vpn helps you to get anonymous at anytime, it not just unblock your geographical location but also allows you to download files using p2p optimized servers which is great thing.

@mariawatson44 Take a lookk at 'Surfeasy' I have used that all over the world and it has always been reliable.
From memory I think it now gives you a choice of 12 countries to place youurself in.

I have used Surfeasy VPN but was not satisfied with it because most of the time when I use to enable the VPN, my internet connection gets disconnected. Then after trying several other VPNs, I finally settled down with Ivacy VPN because of its great performance and user-friendly interface. Moreover, Ivacy have P2P optimized servers, so for a guy like me who's major use of internet is comprised of torrenting, Ivacy was the best choice for me and the best VPN for torrenting. Recently I came to know that the 85% discount that they were offering is going to end soon. So, just wanted to let you all know about my experiences, that's it. Hope it helps.

Irrespective of how handy and fun torrents are to download, there will always be the fear of copyright trolls, DMCA and ISPs that will threaten you of legal consequences because you intended to download or upload content that was or is protected under copyright laws. In such scenario, downloading torrent through VPN is a safe option. But not every VPN is perfect fit for downloading torrents. Read the reviews about VPN services and and choose the one who provide optimized servers for torrenting. See some of them listed here https://www.allbestvpn.com/best-vpn-for-torrenting-p2p/ Doing research will help you out in choosing the right vpn for downloading torrents.

I agree that VPN is completely for privacy reasons or if you are using an unsecured connection like free WiFi then you must use some antivirus.

Although there's no point continuing with this old thread but i would suggest you to use PureVPN's UK VPN service because on my vodafone, it works fine with its unlimited 3G data.
