Solution

When will Google Pixel 5 be provisioned for WiFi calling?

Hi,

I can't seem to activate WiFi calling on Pixel 5 and after taking a look in the *#*#INFO#*#* menu I can see that VO WiFi is showing as unprovisioned. I obviously went through the steps to enable it again on my account and received the text confirmation however no WiFi calling option is available in the Phone app settings as per usual.

After a very length support chat I finally got told that Vodafone don't support WiFi calling on Pixel 5.

Any information out there confirming when it will be enabled?

Thanks!

It's working for me now, I worked with technical support and they said they found a bug.

You'll need to disable WiFi calling in my Vodafone via the website or app. Wait until you get the text and then turn it back on again. Once the text comes through saying it's been turned on your phone will be provisioned correctly for WiFi calling.

Good luck.

Without receiving any text after off or on?

I got an on text, but no off text 🤷🏼‍♀️

I can confirm that switching WiFi calling off + immediately restart, then on and restart (no confirmation messages received) solved the problem for me also.

Now, have anyone noticed if VOLTE is working :-)? I've noticed it seems to be provisioned, but the icon doesn't appear on the status bar.

Pixel phones don't have a volte icon but if you turn WiFi off you will notice that the phone maintains a 4g connection while on a call.

I managed to get VoWifi working with the method others described but no dice with VoLTE, I can see the connection change from 4G to HSPA even though the phone is provisioned for VoLTE in the test/engineering menu.

I don't get why it's such a pain to get simple universal features to function in 2020 with Vodafone, EE and O2 have no issues with this

Hey there @pixelwixel, I'm glad to hear you got WiFi calling sorted on your device, great stuff 👍

In regard to your VoLTE, does 4G show when your on your mobile data usually?

Does it only drop to H+/HSPA when you are a call?

Hey Evie

Yep, 4G is active and then swaps to HSPA when I make a call.

And Wi-Fi calling doesn't work again today, despite trying the fix  I tried to request an eSIM on chat but they refused and said  the only have them for the Pixel 4!

Wrt esim - Just use the website and choose SIM swap. Saves dealing with the numpties! Can do it yourself in minutes.

Just reconfirmed and Vowifi and Volte are still working on my Pixel 5. Also in my limited experience of esim on Vodafone live chat can't issue them. They spent 30 minutes arguing with me that esim was only available on iphone and finally told me that they couldn't issue them anyway.

So I've swapped to eSIM, turned VoWifi off and on. Phone is provisioned but refuses to swap to WiFi calling. It's defaulting to calling over the mobile network in settinga and I can't select the preference to use Wi-fi over mobile network
