3g Dongle K3565 Router Information

Hi,

I am trying to get my Vodafone pay-as-you-go 3G dongle K3565 working with my Netgear MBR624GU 3G router.

I have successfully used my Vodafone dongle from my PC (so I know it works).

I have tested the Dongle with the Netgear router and it seems to be compatible and seems to be detected correctly (i.e. It runs through the setup successfully and asks for a username/password then tries to connect to the internet - but fails).

The issue I am having is that the router seems to require several settings which I do not know.

For starters I have no idea what to put for:

Username
Password
Pin
APN

I've done some searches and so far tried these combinations of Username/password combinations without success:

wap/wap
web/web
Vodafone/web
Vodafone/
and also tried using no username and password.

I have no idea what the "pin" is or what to set APN to although I've currently got it set to "pp.vodafone.co.uk".

Not sure what else I may need to set but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi snoopygee

A big welcome to the eForum family. Nice to see new faces here. :)

Let me see if I can help you with the settings you require here.

username - web
password - web
pin - leave blank
apn - pp.internet (or ppbundle.internet if your modem is a k3565r)

Give these settings a go, and let me know if you have any further issues.

Hi

I'm trying to get my Draytek Vigor 2800VG Router to work with a pay and go Vodafone Huawei K3565 Rev 2 USB Dongle.

The Draytek recognises the dongle is there, and shows "PPP Shutdown"

I presume it is just the initialisation / login details that are the problem.

I have tried everything I could find on the net which include the following:-

init string ATDT*99#

username - blank
password - blank

username - web
password - web

APN name - internet

APN name - pp.internet

APN name - pp.bundle.internet

Any ideas what the correct init string and username/password are?

Hi jopple

Welcome to the eForum family. New additions are always good to see. :)

For the modem you have you should be using the following settings:

init string: +cgdcont=1,"IP","ppbundle.internet"
username: web
password: web
APN: ppbundle.internet

Let me know if you are still encountering any issues.

Hi Trev,

Thanks for the info.

The settings you suggested were almost correct except that the APN setting ppbundle.internet did not work however pp.bundle.internet did. My router can now successfully work with my Dongle.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply, but still battling away!

I borrowed an Edimax 3g-6200n and used the (pp.bundle.internet - web - web) settings, and it seemed to work fine, so the dongle and the settings seem to be correct - just the Draytek being a pain.

Oddly when I enter the APN name in and hit apply, it transfers "APN:pp.bundle.internet" into the init string box, so I can only either put the APN name in, or the init string - not both. Not sure if this is a problem as the APN name is in the init string "+cgdcont=1,"IP","pp.bundle.internet"" anyway.

Draytek has the latest firmware, before anyone asks!
