4g data speed? What is Vodafones Max in Essex??

Ive got a OnePlus 2 on Vodafone pay monthly and i know its not LTE-A device but its still a Cat 6 LTE device which has a theoretical speed of 150mbps download.

Ive been tweaking my phones settings and recently got 2 results that asstounded me: -

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/2494449914

When i got those results i ran it again incase it was a fluke

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/2494760852

But the 2nd was faster..

Should I be able to get these 4g speeds in Essex, my googling hasnt found anything telling me that Vodafones 4g speeds are anywhere like what im getting.

Im not complaining but I curious to find out what the max speeds for Vodaphones 4g actually are now??

These results were only acheived while i had full signal bar, when the signal dropped so did my speeds but even those were around 30mbps download.

What sort of speeds are other people getting on Vodafone 4g now??  If im getting these speeds on LTE what could I get if i had an LTE-A device??

Look forward to reading replies.

Thanks

JK

Hi. Can't say for Essex as I live up north, I have had 50 mbs in Berwick upon Tweed so your figures are not unexpected as far as I am concerned.

I'm in West Yorkshire and have experienced approximately those speeds on my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge.

Sometimes being actually faster than my BT Infinity Fibre Home Broadband!

Please be aware running speed tests can use approximately 40mb'ish of your Data Allowance.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the future brings. Who knows.... 5G next :Winking_smiley:

OK thanks at least i know 50mbps is right.

A samsung g7 edge should be LTE-A shouldnt it? has anyone used one in a Vodafone area with LTE-A?

Essex is a huge county and largely rural. Where specifically are you interested in?

I'm near Southend in South Essex.

Any chance your using a Dlink DWR 921?? one of my clients uses one of those with an external antenna, I put an EE sim in it as no other network was close to the speed of EE?

I know on the WWW UI you can set the modem to use 3g or 4g, set it too 4g only.

I've hit 70mbps several times using just Band 20 (800MHz). As @bandofbrothers mentions, it's often quicker than most people's fixed broadband. True for me! On a Cat9 device the speed should rocket past at least 150mbps depending on location, amount of users and bands used (aggregated)

You can run a speed test using the My Vodafone app and the data used will not be taken from your allowance. Bear in mind the server sits on VFs own network so I'm guessing it's located at HQ, and will always give a better result than Speedtest.net
