Just got a replacement iPhone in the USA and having difficulties activating it with my Vodafone sim. Any ideas ?

Is the iPhone unlocked to all Networks ?
Where did you purchase it from ? ie privately, from a shop or Apple.
Is the sim the original one or has that been replaced too ?
Try hooking up to iTunes to see if this helps.
Ensure no abroad bars are on your account via your Myvodafone online.

Have you tried hooking up to iTunes and is there no bars on the account.
Is your vodafone account ok.
Maybe go back to the Apple Store so they can check the phone.
Process of elimination: Can you try you're Sim card in another phone to rule out either the Sim or Account or Phone which may be at fault.
