Argos vouchers

Rachel-B-

Hi,

Please can someone help me. I recently exchanged my Vodafone Rewards points for a £20 Argos voucher code.
The code arrived OK and having chosen and reserved my chosen item online, I went to my local Argos branch as instructed in the text from Vodafone Rewards. But when I provided the message with the code on, the cashier found it was too long and couldn't be used.
The code is a 11 digit number code, does anyone know if it is the right length?
Anyway, after arriving home empty-handed and hacked off I called Vodafone customer services to be on kept waiting for at least ten minutes before I got through.
The lady who answered was very helpful and refunded my Rewards points. But she advised me to go to my nearest Vodafone store to try to obtain the voucher again. This is really inconvenient for me as there's not one near me and I'm not well so the task isn't feasible.
Anyway, sorry, to cut a lengthy story short does anyone know how long the Argos Voucher code should be? As I'm wondering if the code I initially had was correct and the problem lay with the Argos cashier who didn't know how to apply it? I noticed others on the forum have had the same problem.
If it is the right length I can just reapply for the voucher online again instead of going miles away to a Vodafone store.
Hope you some kind (and patient person can help), thank you.

Hi @Rachel-B-

Past posts lead to that perhaps the Argos cashiers have difficulty in using the code. I would have asked for the shop floor team leader / manager.

If this was my situation I'd speak to Argos Customer service via their Uk support channels.

Posts also suggest a code can be used on Argos Online too.

Hi @Rachel-B-

Unless there has been some very recent change, I don't believe that you can use the Argos vouchers to make an online purchase as such. It's as described on the Rewards pages -  Visit www.argos.co.uk to reserve your item then go into store and pay for your item with your collection code. So it isn't very user-friendly unless you happen to live or work near an Argos store

I don't know how long the code should be, but I think the problem is often that the Argos staff are trying to use the wrong page or wrong box on their system - something along the lines of trying to enter it into a discount code box when it should be going into a collection code box instead. I had built up enough Rewards points, and was interested in an Argos voucher, but I have to confess that I chickened out in the end, because of the number of reported problems, and the trek involved in getting to my nearest Argos store. I went instead for some of the Points for UK minutes offers, which worked out well for how I use my phone, but I realise it isn't what everyone wants.

Another interesting sounding one, which I rather regret not trying while I had enough points, is the 2000 points for £20 of free credit, as that doesn't appear to have the restrictions of the "bonus credit valid for n days" offers.

If you do decide to have another crack at using an Argos voucher, I think @BandOfBrothers is right that first you need to make contact with the manager of your local store, and make sure that they know how to use your collection code when you turn up with it. One wasted trip is bad enough, a second one - NO!

Good luck, and do let us know how you get on!
