Hello. I have problems getting BES on my phone to get my work emails.
Basically, I have a private blackberry 9790 on a monthly plan. To get my work emails I phoned up and they said I can have BES enabled for an extra £2.50 a month, so I said yes. My work has a BES server and gave me an activation password.
Now when I tried to activate it I got an error that the server is not responding. The VF helpline told me to go to advanced settings and click on 'register now'. After I did that I didn't get the enterprise activation option any more but instead it seemed to have logged on to BIS instead.
If I wipe the phone I get the BES activation again but it won't activate, when I 'register now' I don't get it again, so I don't get anywhere with this.
I phoned the VF helpline again and now they are saying it doesn't work because I can't have BES on a private plan (which is odd since I was charged £2.50 for exactly this), but I can't have a business plan either since I don't have a business....
Surely there must be a way to get work email on a private phone, can anyone help? If VF can't do it, anyone know if O2 can?
Thanks,
Andrea

Latest update: it's still not working. I got the new BES activation password from my work after some wait but it still didn't work. Phoned Vodafone again who told me I was on the wrong BES plan and need a different BES plan for £5 a month. But Now I'm back with the original problem since it's again trying to connect to BIS...
I contacted them again and now they are telling me this service is not available on a private plan at all...
I despair, this is getting rediculous. I think I'll cut my losses and will try O2 instead....
If anyone managed to actually get work emails on their private blackberry using BES then please let me know!

Hi Andrea22,
I can't see any emails from you. I think its bet we take a closer look at your account.
Please get in touch here.
Thanks,
Sukhi

Thanks Sukhi,
I didn't send emails but contacted Vodafone via the live chat or telephone.
Meanwhile, whilst trying to cancel, I found out that apparently BES was never enabled, it was just BES Express, so no wonder it didn't work...
I asked how I can get the full BES instead but was told to phone back in 3 days due to a 'technical problem', sigh...
My guess is that it really is not available for private customers, at least not with Vodafone.
