I have had my Smart Phone 7 for just a year, and just lately I have had to charge it a lot more, some times twice a day, I do not use it that much, hardly make any calls on it,
Just wondered how long the battery may last, I have it on 'mobile data' but always have had, thanks for any help.

Hopefully that's you sorted.
I have auto updates off too.
It's good that the lad has been able to help, looking at the phone is a lot easier to diagnose any problems.

Thanks again for your expert knowledge, at least now I know that it is not right, so will have to make a trip into town soon, As you can tell I am not a phone expert, I love computers, and no matter what everyone says, to me a phone is not like 'my' computer,
but still like the phone Ha Ha most of the time 🙂

I use a MacBook Air for anything intensive and an iPad Air for general surfing at home.
My s8 is very much my go to pocket computer.

Funny you should say this HRYM, because a little while ago I remember putting it on charge and for some unknown reason it did not, proberly did not connect right, and it went completly flat, ahh, could that have been the start of the problem??

Just letting the battery go flat once won't have caused a problem with the battery itself - it's doing so on a regular basis that does the damage. It's possible that the software was disrupted but, if everything is working as it should, that may not have happened either. A simple restart should fix anything arising if it had.
If the problem persists, you may yet have to resort to a reset. I agree it's a pain, but I've done them a few times and it's mainly setting your homescreens up again and remembering all your app settings, if you changed them from default, that's the effort. If you decide to give it a go, post here and someone will talk you through the process. It would be part of any repair, so you won't have lost anything by doing it yourself.

OK, am off out soon, but I still fail to see how a 'reset' will increase the life of a battery
my phone has now gone completly crazy, it now shows'Plusnet' Connected, no internet,
and a small 'h' next to the vodafone uk symbel,
I'm off out, !!!!!!

If there's a process that's gone mad, restarting or resetting may be the only way to kill it. Interestingly, the camera on my wife's Sony XA froze recently and the battery started going down quickly. When charging, it overheated, but a simple restart cured it and it hasn't done it again (so far!).
Have we established whether you've tried a restart (ie shut it down and then turn it on again)?
As a reset would be part of any repair process, you won't lose anything by trying it yourself. If it works, you won't be without your phone while it goes off to hospital.

Restart, Reset, you're losing me now,
I have shut it down and then turn it on again, not sure how that will make the battery last longer.

Yes that's what I call a soft reboot.
i.e Turning it Off and On.
It helps by breaking connection with the network and then refreshing Network connection because if the phone is hanging onto a weak signal it's working harder thus using more battery.
It in my opinion refreshes most things and gives the whole system a rest.
