Bent Back Cover

NatashaZoe
4: Newbie

I have just received my new Samsung S5 from Vodafone. I have taken it all out of the packaging & put in the battery to charge the device. When I have gone to replace the back cover I have discovered that there is a slight bend on the back cover & therefore it will not click into place properly on one side. Does anyone know whether I will be able to get a replacement back cover in store?

well in a word No

You need to get  in-touch with CS upgrades on 191 and get them to send out another phone dues to the terms and conditions of the 14 day cool off

Now its up to you if your happy with the phone you can when it comes swop the back cover when DPD comes

But yes it is the easy way just to send out a new back cover

But Vodafone has rules which stops this

if your returning the phone put a Note in explaining why its being returned then the engineer will sort this

oh and make sure you check with 191 there sending out a Brand new unit and not one from a refurbish stock

I know this is going to sound like a silly question but I need to get a case/cover for my new phone anyway - if I were to buy one that acts as a replacement battery cover then surely this will bypass the need to send the phone back? This is something that I am keen to avoid.

Depending on what exactly it is you're buying, it won't necessarily include another back.  However, it will protect the back of the phone and, if you're prepared to live with what you have, it would probably be OK.   It's just possible though, if it came to a repair, that the bent back might be classed as damage and therefore limit what Vodafone can do.

On the whole, I'd advise fixing this now.  If you can get and exchange, you can keep the handset you have and just swap the backs while the delivery driver waits (if they will and you can do it quickly).  Though, thinking about it, that could get the IMEIs confused and could be an issue if there were an insurance claim.  Sorry to introduce so many theoretical complications!

You could also try phoning Samsung and see if they'll send you a back.  Act quickly, as your Vodafone cooling-off period is 14 days from receipt of the phone.

I just been into the store & bought the offical Samsung S5 flip cover case that has attached to the back of my phone perfectly. I spoke to the lady in the shop & she has placed an order for a new back to be sent over to me so at least I will have one that fits should I ever want to use it.

Thank you for your advice & help.

True, but I'm also a bit surprised they have spare parts in stock.
