Broadband connection drops out when I plug in SureSignal

GillRichardson
4: Newbie

The wireless is ok but the broadband drops out within a minute of plugging in the SureSignal gizmo.

Internet connection then repeatedly comes back and drops out in 1-2 minute cycles.

Router is a DLink DSL2640R. Suresignal is the new compact plug-into-the-wall type.

Any help would be gratefully received. Keep it simple please, I plug and play my technology so please no deep dives into reprogramming if possible.

Many thanks.

Hi GillRichardson,

With the Sure Signal not connected, try doing the tracert command:

VSS Traceroute command

  • On a PC:
  • Click on Start and select Run
  • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  • A black box will appear.
  • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply (in this same message thread).

While you're at it, post the name of your ISP and the particular service they give you (e.g. ADSL+, fibre, whatever).

Thanks,

Peter

Thanks for this, have carried out the traceroute but I can't copy & paste the results, any ideas?

Forgot to add, we have Talktalk Broadband ADSL (I think) via a D Link Router DSL 2640R

Hi GillRichardson,

Thank you for supplying the information from your traceroute. Although this appears quite slow your Sure Signal should still work.

Can you please supply us with the following information;

Your speed test results from here.

Your ping test results from here.

Your external IP address from here.

Can you also let me know the serial number of your Sure Signal?

It is worth trying your Sure Signal at a different location so we can determine what is causing the problem. Please let me know the outcome once you've done this.

Thanks

Kay
