Hi,
I recently setup my vodafone for a new acccount. Vodafone support gave me a temporary username, however when I tried to change this to be my email address. It said it was already taken, however I dont remember setting up one previously. Is there anyway to fix this so that I can have my username as my email.

My advice is to call Customer Services on 191 so they can access your Account to help you with your request.

Thanks BandOfBorthers, however they weren't able to help me, and instead just reset my password. Guess its not possible to then. Maybe when I did the transfer of ownership, and they created an account for me. The login details got duplicated.

That sounds entirely feasible. If you're not happy with how things are, just confirm here and the forum team will be able to investigate when they pick the thead up. When I did a transfer of ownership some years back, the operator deleted the original online account so that I could set a new one up. It's also possible that, if the email address is on the account whose username you want to change, this is what's stopping you using it. I don't know if there's a superuser over-ride, but there may be.

Thankyou for your response, its nice to see someone who understands my issue. When I originally went to do it myself online, when you put in your number. It had the option to use your email as your login. But when I checked that option it gave an error saying the username is already in use, which is why I called vodafone in the first place. I also checked my Dads account, and he can login using his email address, so it definielty seems possible. I would like this sorted, since I felt like I was just fobbed off when I called vodafone. Maybe its because its not causing any issues with my service, so they dont see it as and issue worth resolving.

@liamscor I'm sorry to learn that you're having this difficulty registering for My Vodafone.
Did you try the reset password link via the log in screen to try and recover your online account?
If you have and it hasn't worked, it maybe because you've had an older account with us that isn't properly canceled and have used the same email address to set it up.
If that's the case, then that email address would have to be completely removed from the system before you could re-register with the same email address.
This quickest way to fix this would be to use a different email address to register your new account.

I can access my new online account fine. There is no issue accessing my new account. It just wont let me set my email address as my username on my new account.
I think you are right in that an older account was setup awhile back with the same email address. I have tried doing forgot password using my email address ( which I currently cant use as my username on my new account ) to try and access the old account. However when trying to login it says there is no number linked to the account. So I can't change the email on it.
I dont want to use a different email address, since that would be too much of an inconvienence. But I appreciate what you are saying. However I would be grateful, if you would be able to remove the old account from the system so I could use my email address with my new account as the username.

Its definelty an old account issue, just checked other thread on here, and by the looks of it they had the same issue aswell. https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Pay-monthly/Deleting-Old-My-Vodafone-Account/m-p/2563533 would be grateful, if you or someone could help me in getting my old account deleted.

@liamscor So we can take a closer look into what has happened, I've sent you a private message with details on how to get in touch to discuss your options.
When emailing us please provide us with details of the old Vodafone account you have; i,e account number (ideally).
You'll need to cancel this first - before asking them to reset your current Vodafone account log in.
Please let us know how you get on

I think ill just live with it if thats the case. The only details I have for the old account is the email address, nothing else, and Id rather not have to reset my account again. But thanks for the help so far anyway.
