Changing location & owner of SureSignal

I get a new SureSignal 3 as part of my job, so having already purchased a Suresignal3 and have it in use ...want to donate to my Father.

He has a VF pay-as-you-go account ...

The steps I think you follow are:

# contact VF and request exisiting device is de-registered

# move to parents house install and then create on-line account for my Father

# register suressignal device to phone to the account.

# add any other VF phones as normal

Then install & register new device in my own home.

Is the above correct sequence ?

Finally do VF provide any firemware updates for SureSignal, is this something I need to check?

It is a Home hub 4.
I am not using at full capacity ... will be happy for a single acceptable quality call.
It should not need 4Mbps for a single call.

I have the max speed that BT can provide, until fibre is provided.

Are there any settings on hub or suresignal that can improve performance?
Currently people complain quality is to bad.
Suresignal bought due to poor 3G signal, so this 'was' the alternative.

Hi @sargan ,

By default, most routers will give Sure Signal a low bandwidth allowance out the box.

Your ISP can let you know how to raise the bandwidth priority for our device if you're not sure how to do this in the router settings.

Thanks,

Ben

Is there anybody here who can advise what to set on HomeHub.?
I would assume the great majority of users in UK would be connected via a HomeHub.

Hi @sargan

For further advise on how to raise the bandwidth priority for your Sure Signal, you'll need to contact your internet service provider.

This isn't something we can provide support with.

Thanks,

Lee

I called BT ... all they would consider is that Speedtest shows line is performing as it should.
I asked about prioritising bandwidth for Suresignal .... they advised that is not something they can assist with, and I should contact Vodafone.

Hi @sargan

This can be done through the router settings.

As we do not provide the router it is not something we’re able to advise on how to action.

Cheers,

Laura

As a great many SureSignal users are in UK, and BT is largest home internet provider, would expect VF to at least have a Tech note ... to tell us what to ask BT to change.
When I call BT they carry out speed test and advise Home Hub is configured & working correctly.

I asked what can they do to prioritise Suresignal traffic or port .... they state that would need QoS
BT home hub does not support QoS.

I asked about chnaging settings - they advised that they cannot advise on that, and to talk with VF as its a 3rd party unit.

Hi @sargan

Changing the priority is in your router settings.

We don’t provide router support. A quick internet search will tell you how you change the priority in your settings.

Thanks,

Simon

When I ask BT about prioritisation, they are also saying 'not our problem' with repetition of statement 'No QoS'

I asked about other settings they just say Router performing as it should, and as issue is only with Suresignal ... they tell me to ask VF.

I then get VF saying go elsewhere.

Result a customer with a VF product that can't be used, no reflection on you personally, just stuck between to big companies.

Can somebody tell me 'what' parameters that could be changed ... and I'll try Google to find out how.
At present don't know what to Google for.
