Please forgive me if this is a stupid newbie question but can you please tell me whether I can connect the Netgear 8 port unmanaged Gigabit switch I have just purchased into to any of the four ports on the Vodafone Connect router using a standard cat6 cable and expect the Netgear to pick up the internet connection and serve it up to devices then plugged into the Netgear, automatically assigning IP addresses as required? If you like piggybacking the Vodafone router. The Netgear box indicates that it's that simple but I am a born sceptic!
In essence I want to be able to connect my laptops, PC and printer to the Netgear switch in the hope that they can merrily transfer files at gigabit speed between themselves whilst leaving my blue-ray player, Smart TV and Satellite box (where I don't particularly need the speed) connected to the Vodafone router which will also remain handling Wi-Fi to phones and tablet.
Does anyone have any particular tips on configuring the Vodafone Connect to optimise performance in this configuration?
