Solution

Connection Error - Unexpected Error

Please Help,
Have been running Mobile Connect 3G successfully on Vista and XP Home. Since installing XP Pro on my XP machine I can re-load the Vodafone software successfully, but at the authenticating stage I get "Connection Error - Unexpected error". I have re-loaded Vodafone several times, re-installed my XP Pro but get identical problem. The modem is finding the 3G network and flashing blue. I have tried connecting without firewall and AV, but no help. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi spinner5,

To help us identify exactly what the error could be, can you try the following for us?

Close down Vodafone Mobile Connect completely (right click and close from the system tray icon, bottom right).

Now click on Start > Connect to...
Select the Vodafone connection from here, and press Dial.

If it errors again, let us know the exact wording of the error, and any error codes included.

We'll then do our best to sort this out for you :)

Jon,
Many thanks for your help -
After selecting DIAL I get "Verifying user name and password" followed by
Error 6 - The handle is invalid.
Hope you can help me with this.
Martin.

Hi spinner5,

Hmmmm this sounds a bit of a tricky one. Hands up, this is a little out of my league but Jon (being the resident Donle Master) is the best person to ask. I've sent him a quick email with a link to this thread to see if he can help me give you some answers. I'll be back as soon as his wisdom has been shared so watch this space ;)

Cheers, Ben

Hello,
Thankyou for your help. I have found a solution in running a Microsoft fix rarepair.exe. It is so simple to execute. Rather than me saying any nore there is loads of explanations that can be searched.
Many thanks,
Martin
