That doesn't sound like a good situation to be in - being as the Dell hasn't got a CD drive it's not a good idea to uninstall the Vodafone software - it would be a nightmare to get back again.

It might be worth removing the device (internal modem) from the software and getting the software to search for it again.

Open Vodafone Mobile Connect
Click on Manage Devices
Click on the internal modem
Click remove.

Shut the software down.

Restart the netbook

Load the software back up again, and go back into manage devices - if the internal modem is not showing, try selecting Add and see if the software can find it.

If it can't, there is every chance that the internal modem could have developed a fault, in which case Dell should be able to sort it out for you.

Hope this helps

Hey vodaclifton,

Thanks to cartman_81 that's sound advice. I've got a Dell Netbook so can appreciate it's a little tricky to restore Windows with the supplied CDs when you don't have an external CD drive. Give cartman's suggestion a go and let me know how you get on. It's likely down to a hardware installation/driver issue and these steps might give Windows the kick to reinstall everything again.

I've not tried this myself but I'd imagine you could restore a Dell Ntwbook by copying the contents from the Dell restore CD to a memory stick and reinstall Windows that way. If anyone has tried this please let me know I'd be interested to know whether this works :)

If you're still having grief from the modem it could be a fault with the hardware and Dell will be able to help with the warranty support and repair :)

I'd really appreciate it if you could provide me with some feedback on how I've assisted you today. We're always looking at ways to improve our customer service and keeping our customers happy. This would really help with my development too so if you'd like to do this, just click here.

Let me know how you get on!
