Disconnecting Your Mobile Service Leaving Vodafone

I gave Vodafone 30 days notice as of the 9th Dec 16 to close my wife's and my account on pay monthly.

We both got the standed letters "Sorry that you are leaving" and the dates of diconnection would be for my account the 9th Jan 17, and for my wife's the 10th Jan 17.  Strange as we did this on the same day and time, the 9th Dec 16.

I have just checked our accounts and it looks like Vodafone are still going to monies up to the end of Feburary.

So Vodafone's 30 days looks like 60 days.  I have phoned and was told my service would end on the dates above, but it looks like Vodafone are going to take the full amounts for both our accounts.

Can someone from Vodafone give me a stright answer, so that I can leave and never dawn Vodafone's door again.

Vodafone should send you a final bill by post too.

If they do take any funds that shouldn't have been taken then they return those funds back in to the bank account. This is why it's important not to cancel the Direct debit at this stage.

The Community Forum is monitored bt Vodafone Tech support teams so please do give them a little time to catch up with your thread.

Thanks for the information. I haven't cancelled any Direct Debits yet, as I have seen that VF have got a bit of reputation of hitting your Credit Rating, reading some of the threads on the forum, seems to bear this out.

I will give them time, once again thanks for the information.

Further more, both of the sims cards haven't been disconnected! as you can still receive texts and calls on them. I haven't tried making any calls as this would end up on my bill.

So can anybody from Vodafone, please like to comment.

You're welcome.

What can happen is a person cancels the Direct debit after cancelling by giving 30 days or using a Pac Code but this then does not allow Vodafone to take any final payments or issue a refund. Thus then can lead to things being reported onto a persons credit file.

I would as you've mentioned resist making any calls and turn off Mobile Data in the phones settings if you decide to leave the Vodafone sim card in the phone to observe when it's disconnected.

@Power14 I've sent you a private message with details on how to get in touch.

Hi Rahim

Thanks for the information, but I received another monthly bill in my email account this morning, so I was on the phone to a very helpful VF agent called Alex at the call centre, in South Africa

He informed me that monies would be credited back to both of our accounts, and that he had found, that our SIM card numbers were still active, so took the steps to deactivate these and make sure that our accounts were both closed.

I can only wait and see if this comes to fruition, and after talking to Alex I have full faith that our accounts are now closed and I am finished with Vodafone.

Update on the on going saga.  The SIM cards are still showing that we connected to the Vodafone network, disconnection was to happen as of midnight on the 28th Jan 17.

I have replied back to Rahim PM message. So I will wait and see what happens.

Further updates will be posted here in due course
