The recent firmware updates have shortened the maximum available password which can be set for logging into the DynDNS service. Previously this was either unrestricted, or at least allowed the 64 characters which make up my Dyn password.
I use 1Password to generate secure passwords for all accounts, which explains the stupidly long password. Excessive, maybe, but secure.
Is there anyone from Vodafone that can explain why this change was made and if the decision can be reversed in upcoming firmware? Seems it was recent as my DDNS account shows I updated my IP with them on January 3rd, but since then the router has not been able to update.
There really isn't a good reason I can see to restrict this - if Dyn allow super long passwords then Vodafone really needs to support them if supporting the service.

Hello @Anonymous
A valid question.
I'm all for good solid security.
I would suggest speaking with the Broadband Team.

Contacted Vodafone Support just now and the agent was very helpful and said that they were aware of the issue. Hopefully it will be addressed in a (not too distant) future firmware update.
Seems like a no-brainer - if you provide a proxy interface to a third party service which requires authentication and that service allows unlimited length passwords, your password entry field also needs to allow unlimited (or the equivalent limit) characters.
So far, so positive. I shall await some action! 🙂
