E220 Dongle - connects, but won't let me connect to a web page!

My faithful E220 dongle has just decided to not let me reach the outside world.

It connects to 3G networks fine, but I can't reach web pages. If I ping bbc.co.uk it says it can't find the site requested.

All other vital signs seem ok. I've uninstalled and re-installed latest VMC Lite software, checked that the seem browses ok from my phone, and even borrowed a colleague's dongle.

Still the same problem.

Could it be that I'm not getting the DNS settings from VF servers, and if so, how do I correct?

Travelling at the end of the week, so desparate to solve!

Thanks,

Hi Bangoman,

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here :).

It certainly sounds like something's not quite right here. Can you clarify that the same thing happened with a colleague's dongle on your laptop? If so, then the first thing I'd recommend trying is to clear the cache and cookies on your web browser. If that fails then try another web browser, such as Firefox, Safari or Chrome.

If that still fails then I'd recommend performing a DNS Flush on your system, this will ensure that you're connecting correctly. Before doing this, you'll need to disconnect from the internet and close VMC, it can then be done as follows:

-Press Start
-On Vista or Windows 7, type cmd into search
-Right click the cmd icon and then click on run as administrator
-On XP, type cmd into run and press enter
-When the command prompt appears, type in the following:
-ipconfig /flushdns and press enter (note the space in the middle)

If all goes well then you should be able to connect without any issues. You may just need to re-boot your computer before attempting another connection.

Let me know how you get on :).
