FEC Corrections something to be worried about?

Andy2513
4: Newbie

Hi All,

FEC Corrections on the upstream are these something i need to be worried about mine is increasing on average 500 errors every 4-5 secs. i had 1600000 errors within 15 hours of restarting my router.

i have also been having issues of intermitent drop outs on such things as facebook and instent messenger software however every time it states that  the router has not droped i also can not stream 4k videos from youtube wich i used to be able too, it just buffers all the way through i have also noticed a slowing in my fiber speed this is from 57 -60mb down to around 47 mb down load my upload has remaind the same at 12-13 mb

my predicted speed on signup was between 51-64 mb downoad and upload 14-17mb with a min gaurenteed of 44 mbps

below are my statistics after restart at 52 minutes.

@Andy2513 Are you testing over Ethernet or Wi-Fi?

If you're testing over Wi-Fi, please can you test over Ethernet and get back to us with your results.

If this test was done over Ethernet, can you please check your router sync speed - you can do this by going to vodafone.connect or 192.168.1.1 and entering the password vodafone 🙂

Be sure to post back your results.

Hi @Andy2513

Thanks for sharing your speeds with us.

We'd like to look into this with you in further detail.

I've subsequently sent you a private message on how to get in touch with us.

Thanks.

well i contacted the tech team over a week ago and well they were ment to ring me back yesterday and lets say im still waiting and well i got told to monitor my speeds and lets say i am more shocked i knocked my wifi off and my laptop was the only thing connected on ethernet cable and my download speed was rangeing from 44 mbps down to 12 mbps, uploads where 14mbps down to 6 mbps. still getting lagsin loading pages and connection drop outs but my router still states im getting 47.3mbps download and 14.2 upload throughout. im about to contact vodafone now and see what they say why they never called me back and i also see others are having the same issues

@Andy2513 Thanks for updating us - how did you get on after speaking with us?

I've not been able to locate an email from you when searching through the email address registered on your Community profile - so we can check on the progress of your email, please let us know the reference number you received in the automated email response (similar to #12345678).

Hi Natasha

I called up the 191 to report it and been dealing with the tech team convergedtech2  is the address I got told to send everything to and well after been told 2 more times I would receive a call 31/10/17 between 12 and 1800 and then between 1800 and 2100 with yet again no call I have been told defiantly today 01/10/17 between 12 and 1800 ....( I see a pattern forming here ) what I have found out so far is :-

1 ) That my router is not dropping connection and saying it is syncing at 47.3 down and13.4 up used to get 58-65 down with sky.

2 ) Been told I have higher than average FEC errors and CRC errors -

3 ) My speed fluctuates massively at what I receive ranging from 12mbps down to 44mbps

4 ) I have a delay when loading webpages and unable to stream online in 4 k anymore.

5 ) My SNR margin is also fluctuating between 3,2 and 6,8 (don’t no if this is an issue)

6 ) also meant to be looking into overcrowding on the network in the area as a possibility

However with all this going on I still think it’s a line fault how can my speed drop by over 10 mbps sync speed from one provider to another as I said was always getting 57 mbps on sky. And all my neighbours are averaging 60mbps plus. I will update on progress if I receive the call this afternoon.

Further update yet again no call when I have been told I would so I have escalated to a complaint where I spoke to a manager who tried to chase things up with the tech team and swiftly got told nothing to tell and well he is going to get back to me tomorrow. mmmm I am slowly losing faith..................... 8 weeks and I will escalated again to the communications ombudsmen.
