Like many other customers on this forum, I am furious with the recent introduction of the new £5 per day charge being imposed on customers abroad without any option to opt out. Vodafone should realise that not all customers wish to take advantage of data services abroad, some just want to send a few text messages to elderly relatives who don't have whatsapp or other wifi options. I have seen a few responses that suggest our feedback will be passed on so my question is, what is happening with the feedback and are you going to listen to your customers or should we all write directly to the CEO to see if we can get some action?
I have just returned from the US with family, 3 of whom would have paid the £5 charge - it was beyond irritating not to be able to keep in contact with each other when we were out and about without access to wifi. We are all on similar contracts, but interestingly, one account, newer than 2 of the others, is still paying per use, e.g. 35p per text, so it is clearly possible to opt out albeit we think it was a fortunate hangover from a previous opt out. No prizes for guessing which phone was most used!

@Juliephilp – I’m sorry to hear you feel this way.
Just to confirm, this isn’t something which can be opted out of.
Whilst there are no plans for this to change, we do take the feedback we receive very seriously and have passed this on internally.

As an 18 year long Vodafone customer I completely agree with this comment. Outrageous way to try and make money by charging £5 for one text. Perhaps time to leave?
