Fix Nokia E71 internet connection

Hi MattyD

I have a Nokia E71 and did not have access to internet. Recently I made a factory reset and now from the shortcut to Facebook I was able to enter my facebook account but not always. Still I could not enter yahoo, hotmail accounts or websites. I get the message Web No gateway reply.

Do you have some instruction that can make my E71 able to use the internet?

I haven’t installed apps for long but recently I was able to download a small PDF file which is definitely harmless.

With and without the card I was able to enter Google site and in Images I clicked Cats and was able to see many pictures of cats.

I also entered the Hotmail.com site but when I tried to open the link to find where to put the email address and password a window came saying “Web Unable to perform operation”

I think that it could be the internet settings for some links do not work but the unit is capable of operating the internet.

Using email accounts is important for me when I would be outside I would know if I receive emails from people. I don’t know why some links work and some not.

If the connection works for some sites, it's unlikely to be the phone's settings as these are generic and in no way site-specific.   I Googled "Nokia E71 web unable to perform operation" and the first two hits are from the Microsoft and Nokia forums.  I haven't looked in detail as I'm not familiar with the device, but this might be worth exploring.   It seems to be a relatively common problem, so you may well find some answers there.
