So in my GS5 came preinstalled an app called Geo News.  I took a look at this ages ago but never did bother with this app much and for most part i have it disabled.

It says that :

"You will receive notification with a list of emergency options when any of the following occur in your vicinity:

Active wildlife / Avalanche / Dust storm / Earthquake / Extreme Cold / Extreme Heat / Extreme Winds / Flood / Snow & Ice / severe Thunderstorms / Winter storms"

So with the prospect if hurricaine Gonzalo I decided to turn it on and and see what it did ...

... It did absolutely nothing  ... all it ever says is "Your region is OK"

Am I missing the point of the app or is it just the most usless app ever ??

You can also get weather warnings on the BBC Weather app now.  Where I am, the warning for wind was only yellow, so it might not have been classed as Severe by another app, I suppose.

Yes i know there are weather app that offer warnings and then there is Radio & TV too.  I was just interested to see what this app actually did when .... and the answer is a big fat nothing !

Unfortunately the app isn't anything we can investigate as it's not ours.

Contact Samsung or the app owner for further support.

Not a complaint at VF ... just a general point for discussuion with other device owners

... I dont blame VF for everything you know
