Guest Wi-Fi

Hello, I'm thinking of switching to Vodafone broadband and see it comes with guest Wi-Fi which is great, but can anyone tell me if it comes with the option to disable/enable access to other devices and local files? As during the week I'd want it enabled but access blocked if I have a party at the weekend?

Thanks

Juno

I have had VF broadband for about a month and am very happy with it.

I've not found a way to block individual devices from accessing the wifi however, there is still the need to put in a password to connect to the guest wifi (different password to the main account) so people can only connect if you given them the family/guest password.

Hope that helps

Hello,

Thanks for your reply, I don't need to block devices from connecting to the guest Wi-Fi, once there connected however I want to know if guest users are isolated from accessing files on the local network? For instance files being shared by my laptop for access on my TV, and a USB drive plugged into the router for sharing documents, I wouldn't want anyone other than main Wi-Fi users to be able to access these unless I needed them too?

Thanks again

Juno

@Juno-Eclipse Give our Broadband specialists a call on 08080 034 515 for broadband support (free from all UK landlines and mobiles) with lines open between 8am and 11pm, seven days a week.

They'll be able to best advise you and provide any additional help to assist with your query.

Hi Alex, unfortunately due to my disability I can't speak on the telephone which is why I came here as I couldn't find an email address for broadband, do you have one?

Thanks

Juno

@Juno-Eclipse We don't have one we're able to publicly post, however we can pass your query on to our dedicated team.

So we're able to do this, please contact us using the information in the private message I've sent.

@Juno-Eclipse - Anyone connecting to the Guest wifi, won't be able to access devices that are connecting to the main wifi or LAN.  This is because the guest devices are on different subnet to the other devices.  If you enable this through the router's web interface, you'll notice the different IP range for the Guest wifi.
