HTC 10 on Vodafone

So, exciting news about the HTC 10 yesterday.
The leaks left me doubting if the device was good enough, but initial reviews suggest it might have got it right.

In the meantime TechRadar suggests VF are sitting on the fence about whether to stock it.

I'm sure a helpful VF member of staff will point us to the pointless "Coming Soon" page. Thanks for that.

Meantime here in the real world who would like VF to stock the HTC 10?
Is it incredible or even possible that VF are considering to NOT run with it?

Even if they ranged it, the chances of Vodafone rolling out Wi Fi calling for an HTC phone is zero. Don't let that factor into your thinking.

ok thanks for clearing that up. basicly its cpw and dont get all the benifits & features or another network then. i must say im very dissaponted in voda to not stock it. it seems easy to blame poor sales of pevious htc models but surly other networks have had the same issues yet they have all decided to give it a go.

It isn't easy to blame poor sales - it has to be the cause as there is no other reason why Vodafone has taken this decision. How they have arrived at a decision that is different to the other networks is impossible to say, but Vodafone has an international group element to it that the other networks don't. We'll never know.

but surly htc deserve the chance. why not drop the old models and give this one a try. after all its the old models that are not selling well.

I agree with you - I don't understand it either from a consumer perspective.

But from a business point of view I do understand it. Why invest the scare resource of money in:

  • Customising the phone with Vodafone branded Android
  • Stocking the device
  • Advertising the device
  • Creating tariffs for the device
  • Training staff to know something about the device

and probably loads of other things

for a product that is likely to sell a few thousands units??

The business probably considers that the money is better spend on the products that sell well, especially Apple and Samsung products.

Which is something I really wish they didn't. My M8 was riddled with crap from Vodafone that couldn't be deleted.

Another reason to buy sim free or get an iPhone.

I wouldn't rush off to get your HTC 10 from another network just yet as Vodafone are probably seeing how it pans out (a great reaction so far) and what deal can be done with HTC. Vodafone maybe trying to hang HTC out to dry (they can't do that with the mighty Apple and Samsung) to get that sweet deal but it could also backfire on them if demand outstrips supply, remember the issues with the first HTC Desire in 2008?
I'm in the same boat as everyone here and really want confirmation before jumping ship but if it transpires Voda won't be selling the best handset of 2016 then the procurement department needs their heads banging together.

Anything's possible but Vodafone doesn't usually make announcements that it doesn't intend to stock a particular handset, it just says nothing. I'd be surprised if they change their mind anytime soon but if there is enough pent up or potential demand they might just do that.

Found a simple poll asking readers if they will buy HTC 10. 73% said they would. Whilst this is a US/global poll and largely targeting the Tech community (read: geeks), it gives us a good indication of what's going to be an important handset this year.
