How To Check Cell Connection

Is there a utility suitable for Java handsets like Blackberry to report which cell is connected?Thanks

Good Question! There isn't an application that I'm aware of however, maybe one of our community can help on this one?

There is a command that you can type into your phone which displays when you last updated on the network (for both GSM and GPRS). All you need to do is type *#105# and then send. Hope this is of use!

I've not seen one either, the engineering software tends to be an in house application for the field engineers of the operator as it would have to have a lookup table in the programming to decode the information from the cell broadcast channel to the actual site number.
