Hsdpa Usb E220 Modem Connectivity Issues

Hello,

I have been running my internet connection over an HSDPA USB E220 Modem for several years issue free. About 3 weeks ago I started getting connectivity issues meaning I can get to some websites and not others, with IE just giving the generic error page. Having installed Google Chrome, the error was reported as a DNS error, once I realised this I confirmed the issue was DNS related by successfully accessing troublesome sited using the IP Address.

I did some searching of forums and identified a few things which might work, specifically IPCONFIG /Release followed by IPCONFIG /renew; after this I performed an IPCONFIG / flushdNS none of which helped the situation.

After a it more digging I suspect that I either need to switch to an alternative public DNS server or upgrade the E220 Modem Connect Lite software (currently v2.1.6.1 running fully patched XP) and I was hoping someone could let me know which is the best course of action and provide some info on how i might go about doing this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
S.

Hey there Sara Holyoak,

Yeah this does sound a bit like a DNS issue

Can I ask if you'd try downloading and installing the full VMC Suite version 9.3.6? We've been investigating this matter, and upgrading to a newer version does appear to be resolving matters. This can happily coexist with the VMC Lite, but if it continues to be a problem, download the latest VMC Lite version as an upgrade.

Once you're back up and running, remember that we host of hassle-free services for our customers such as Online Billing, Online Upgrades... all available after you've signed up for a free My World account. It's really easy, and could help you save your time and money if you're thinking of calling us on 191 in the future.
