Hay all,

After a bit of help (has a quick google with the only joy ive found has been with huawei devices deom 2/3 years ago)

I have a huawei P9 on contract form vodafone. tonight as i was using the camera the phone reset it self while using the app. the phone has rebooted but is now stuck/frozen at the vodafone boot up animation. I have pressed and held the power button which restarts it but it gets stuck at the same point.

Any surgestions?

My current plan of attack is to take it to my local store in the morning...

Hi there

Whilst this is quite a drastic approach, have you tried a factory reset of the device? This may solve the issue and will be one of the first things done by the repair centre if you send it off for repair.

It won't go past the Vodafone boot up animation.

Hi @mandrews

Although a Factory Reset will delete saved data you could try a Hard Reset which is a series of button presses so you do not have to be able to enter the phones settings like a factory reset.

This will delete saved data too.

This link explains how to perform a Hard Reset.

Huawei- P9 - Hard Reset.

If this does not help then I would suggest contacting the manufacturer via their uk online site for advice and warranty support.

Huawei U.K mobile support.

Huawei contact-us.

If the phone was sourced through Vodafone then you could visit a Vodafone store and they'll look at it and if necessary send it off to one not their repair centres although I'd recommend going through Huawei first as they know their hardware and software better than a repair centre IMO.

Before sending the phone off take Tine and Date stamped pictures of it to prove its aesthetic condition and one of it turned on.

From Vodafones Repair information.

"Also make sure when sending your device for repair that you keep hold of your SIM. You also shouldn't send your memory cards, battery and/or back cover (if they're removable) - if these are included with your phone when it goes for repair we can't guarantee their return."

I wish you all the best with this.

You can do a factory reset using the physical buttons on your handset - have you done this and are saying it won't go past the boot up animation?

When I attempted to do that it would go black and then play the Vodafone animation the then get stuck at the same point.

I left it over night when I woke up I had a EMUI screen that gave me the options to do a factory rest.

That is good news!  Once you have had a chance to do a factory reset, please do let us know if it has helped resolve the issues you are having.
