K3565 - Driver Conflict With Sim Reader On Dell

Hi.

I'm currently unable to use my new Vodafone K3565 USB Modem Stick as the device drivers aren't properly installing.

I've just had a lengthy phone call with a helpful man from the Vodaphone Technical Support team but it seems the drivers for the USB modem may be conflicting with those already on my computer.

I have a Dell XPS M1530. This has an integrated sim holder behind the battery - although I've not located any software to use it.

When loading the K3565 into the USB, it says it's loading device drivers then says "device driver software not successfully installed" - when I click on more infomration it tells me "HUAWEI mobile connect - 3G PCUI Failed" but the others on the list are "ready to use".

For info I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. And now have the full version of the Vodafone Connect software after it was recommended from the helpdesk. I've tried rebooting, uninstalling, system restoring etc several times with no success.

Any ideas please?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matthull101,

As a troubleshooter, would it be possible you could try the modem in a different machine, just so we can check whether it's the modem at fault ofr not?

If you could do that for me and post back, I'm sure we can get this sorted ;)

Hi Matt,

I thought I'd come on and offer my 2 cents on this. I have a Dell XPS M1330 though without the 3G modem built-in like yours. It definitely sounds to me that the modem is conflicting with the USB dongle. If you ordered yours with the modem then you might be able to use that with the laptop instead of the dongle (just a thought!). In either case I'd recommend you check the Dell support page to see whether there is any software you can download to either enable or disable the hardware. I'm fairly certain I've seen something floating about their site.

All you do is enter your Service Tag found on the underside of the laptop and you can check what software is available. If we can establish whether you can disable the modem or indeed make use of it for the purposes of VMC I'm confident we can get you up and running :)

Keep me posted!

Thanks for your responses. I've been on the Dell support site and this is the list of drivers for my support tag.

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for on here.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
