I would be interested in the answer to this one also. Vodafone were quite a bit behind Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but did come good recently.

I am in the process of updating a number of laptops and netbooks to Windows 7 and will be needing VMC support for two of the netbooks. Unfortunately, I am too late for one of them as it was updated to Windows 7 this weekend - I'll be trying out VMC v9.4.3 but the documentation does state that it is for Vista and earlier OS. So I'm not entirely hopeful of success.

So come on Vodafone - how come VMC is always so far behind the OS releases? The Beta have been out for ages, and SDKs for equally long. It is a recurring theme with Vodafone to be so late for the OS.

Hi sezy

Welcome to the eForum :)

As stated by HandsOn, the latest software is VMC v9.4.3.

I have asked the question of our device management team, regarding Windows7 and the VMcc. Please keep an eye on the Forum.

The members will know when we know.

please do me a favour and check out my post http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?show...c=41768&hl=

I need to check the integrity of my dongle. I have a feeling the files may have been tampered with.

Please paste the exact file sizes of all the files on the usb dongle (helper, the vmc_lite_setup), along with their version numbers which can be found by going to properties of the file (right click -> properties -> version tab --> file version) thanks

this solved the prpoblem for me,

Hmmm, very interesting - this also solved the problem for me too using an Huawei E172 USB stick.

Although I followed the process described in the above link it didn't quite go as described.

I followed it up to the point where it says ...
Right click the now disabled USB Mass Storage Device and select Update Driver Software when prompted choose Browse my computer for driver software and then select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

At that point it all went a bit different. You will not find the E172 drivers, Windows 7 does not show them. But it will throw up a "USB Composite Device" - use that and VMC v9.4.3 will instantly discover the E172 and make it available for use.

In Device Manager you will find the following devices listed
DVD/CD-ROM drives -> HUAWEI Mass Storage USB Device
Universal Serial Bus controllers -> USB Composite Device (two of these may be listed, one is the E172)

There is nothing listed under "Network adapters" ...

In use VMC v9.4.3 is fully functional. I have been able to establish an HSPA connection, VPN and send/receive SMS messages.

Woo :)

The only annoying thing is that each time the USB stick is plugged into the netbook it prompts to install the VMC software that is located on the stick's flash drive.

@George_Vodafone - its going really well, working absolutely solid and without any problems.

The only thing that is a bit irritating is the pop up that I described above. But that is a small price to pay to have VMC working until the new Windows 7 compliant version arrives :)
