Success under Win7-x64 RC !!!
I installed the software from the USB key and while the manager software worked, the modem wasn't seen. After mucking in control panel, looking for the modem (it isn't visible, only the cd-rom part of the USB key is seen) I was having no luck and then decided to connect the USB-key to my Windows-XP virtual machine. (I run my work Windows-XP build in a virtual machine to allow me to put a 'better' operating system on my laptop)
Well it autoran on XP and installed ok. It then ran up and found the network. Cool I thought - at least I can do work email via the USB modem while travelling.
So I disconnected the USB key from the virtual machine and it reconnected back to the host laptop (this is a virtual disconnect from the virtual machine not a physical unplug from the host laptop) ---- and surprise surprise the Vodafone manager software detected the modem and found a signal !!!!!
In subsequent testing, just plugging the USB key into the host doesn't work as it doesn't discover the modem. I have to connect it to the XP virtual machine and then disconnect it back to the host for it to work. I can't come up with a solid explanation for this but suspect that once activated (by plugging it into the XP system), it remains active for the life of it's physical connection to the host USB port.
