Hi guys,
Signed up to a one month contract mobile broadband dongle a couple of days ago and assumed it was 'plug-in and play' which has been successful so far.
I have a two bar connection which should be enough to connect me to the internet, right?
I connect successfully with a solid blue light on my dongle however in Windows when I check my network connections it says im completely connected but "no network access"
One of the reasons why I bought my dongle is because the coverage in my area is very good indoors and outdoors.
I'm fairly high up and im sitting right next to a window..
Do I need to do anything to activate it?
What can I do to get internet access?
Thanks :smileyvery-happy:

Is it contract or payg? If its payg do you have credit or a data pack active? Just one more thing, does it say your connected to vodafone in the vmb software dashboard? And if so, have you tried to use your browser?

Thanks for the reply!
I signed up for a one month contract and got the first two months free.
And yes. The software says i'm connected with a two/three bar connection but there is no download speed or anything. When I try my browser.. nothing.
It is saying i am configured correctly but it cannot recieve DNS.
Windows also says the same thing as well. Something else is confusing too.. usually there is a tiny yellow triangle on top of the connection icon and there isn't.
So, I am connected correctly, it's just not recieving DNS yet I have a perfectly good connection and I think everything is setup correctly..

Still nothing.
I tried connecting to Google's Public DNS being: 8.8.8.8 + 8.8.4.4
but, that didn't work either.
So i'm back to automatic settings and it's just not working.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi Dayzy
I’m sorry to hear that you are still having problems with this.
Can you tell me your full postcode so that I can see if there are any problems with the local site?
Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling the modem on your computer?
Do you have another computer that you would be able to test this on?
Can you take some screenshots of the error messages you are getting so that we have a clearer picture of what is happening your end?
Thanks

Thanks for replying Wayne!
I've been fretting over this since I got it and i'm fairly experienced with computers and I just cannot seem to get it to work.
I've had two different results and i've print screened one of them.
The problem I have print screened is the problem I first mentioned. No Network Access.
However, i've also had it where the dongle connects to the Vodafone network but doesn't connect to the internet.
I can't seem to get it to do that again so I haven't been able to print screen it.
When I have No Network Access it is connected to Vodafone UK
When I have network access but no internet access it is connected to Vodafone UK 2
I uninstalled just the modem and nothing else. Reinstalled it and still nothing.
My full postcode is PO21 1HR.
I live in University halls and the coverage checker in this area says it's all good.
I will ask one of my flat mates if I can try it in one of their machines to see if it makes a difference.
We have a LAN connection which I'm using to do this but I initially bought the dongle so I could work in lectures etc.
I'm sorry i've made the situation even more confusing than it already was but I didn't expect it to be this difficult.
This screenshot shows no network access
When I actually have network access but no internet access, it is obviously connected to Vodafone UK but not connected to the internet.

Again, no network access
No data sent or recieved

Windows telling me it cannot find the problem but every now and then it says DNS cannot be found (primary DNS)

All connected and working but again no data transfer

Vodafone Mobile Broadband working fine
Ignore "Vodafone Mobile Connect" - Was a dial-up dongle I had a long time ago

I have also checked the APN settings and they are all correct being:

Thanks for reading and helping.
Much appreciated.

Are you running any antivirus or firewall programs? E.g Zonealarm. Could be blocking your internet connection.

I am running Microsoft Security Essentials and my LAN connection works fine with it.
I have checked my settings in there and nothing seems to be blocking it.

You mention that you have two different connections showing different errors and an old dial up.
I would uninstall / delete all references to vodafone.
Download the latest VMC and install it.
Plug in your dongle and let it load the drivers and then when it tries to run VMC from the dongle close it and run the version you have just downloaded from your pc.

Uninstalled all software and drivers. Deleted all network connections related to Vodafone.
Reinstalled software from website and reinstalled drivers.
Nothing. No network access again
I still have yet to try this in another machine but i don't see why it wouldn't work in mine.
I've also tried numerous public DNS servers and they don't work either.
I don't see why I should pay for something that doesn't work.
I would like to get this working ASAP.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for helping.
