I'm getting the dreaded boot loop issue on my LG G4 with S/N beginning 509. As I understand it, this is a motherboard issue, and will require some fixing, but when I spoke online to Vodafone Customer Services using the online chat function, I was informed I should just take it to my local Vodafone shop where they will fix it there and then for me. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? I'm very doubtful having read a few forum threads about the issue.
I'm currently offshore for work, and won't be back for 18 days, and once back I will be travelling to Norway for a week where I'd ideally like to use my phone. If it needs to be sent away, I'm guessing there will be no chance of this happening.
I've also read about a possible temporary fix involving downloading the LG Bridge tool and .tot files. Is this recommended?
Cheers

Hi
Have you tried a factory reset or hard reset?
This would delete saved information in the phones storage memory so a back up is preferable.
Vodafone apply a 24 month warranty on phones supplied by them.
They would look at it in store and if they cannot remedy the issue then they send it off to their repair centres. On some contracts a loan phone can be used if they have one in stock.
Before you go to Vodafone I'd first suggest speaking with the manufacturer via their UK online support site. They know their software and hardware better imo.

How would I go about backing it up if I can't switch it on though? The LG Bridge Tool method I mentioned earlier is an apparent workaround to do that, but I'm loathe to try it in case it makes the issue worse or voids any possible warranty I may have.

I've not used that tool.
I assume you've not been backing up at all then.
Do you use Gmail, Google drive etc

Unfortunately no, I haven't been backing it up. I think it's something I should start doing in the future though!
I use G Mail, but not google drive.
Starting to get the feeling that everything on the phone is goosed now. Oh well, at least my pics are stored on the memory card.

When you get back up and running, set your photos to synch with Google Photos. If you use High Quality (rather than Original Quality), they don't count towards your space allowance. Having them on an sd card is better than on the phone, but all storage can (and at some point will) fail.
Also, a Vodafone shop won't fix your phone on the spot - merely send it off for repair. Has that been said already?

Hello everybody!
I also have the same problem from yesterday with boot loop on my LG G4. Last year I bought LG G4 in Germany (Mannheim) from one man, who bought this phone in Vodafone's store. The phone is still under warranty and I own bill. I do not have Vodafone store in my country, and because of that I am in specific situation...
First of all I would like to ask you, on which way did you contact Vodafone, because I can not find any e-mail address for service in Germany (except telephone number for services but it takes too much time..) on which I can send question about this problem and ask them what they can offer me in this situation.
All suggestions are welcome.
Thank you!!!

Hi.
Some manufacturing guarantees can be country specific.
You would need to contact Lg Customer services to see if they can assist you.

Hi @sarajevo13
The problem with buying a second hand phone supplied on a UK network is you never know the phone's past history and with the proof of purchase and warranty being UK only and with the original owner, if anything goes wrong with the phone, you are going to be liable for any repair.
Your can try LG Support, Germany here, but you will probably find any repair will be at your own expense.

I took my lg g4 back to the shop with the boot loop problem last week. They didnt know anything about it in the shop, but they sent my phone of anyway.
Today I got a garbled message left from the repair centre saying that my case on my "G5" was damaged (it isnt or wasnt when i sent it) and that any repair is chargeable. I am going to have to phone back tomorrow and argue my case now. Why do companies like vodaphone always try and take the easy way out. Its a very well documented problem with bad connections on the mother board, so they should just replace it no questions asked.
I hope you have better luck with vodaphone than I seem to be having.
