Hi,
This has only recently happened with the wifi at my gym . Still connects ok with wifi at home.
Had a recent software update but am sure everything was ok until today.
Would this have anything to do with my internet provider as another Vodafone user has the same problem and the gym provider is BT. Not sure if provider bloatware is responsible or software update has caused a problem.
Googled problem and a lot of advice seems to centre around advanced settings but the LG G4 doesn't have an option for "avoid weak connections".
Maybe it's the gym router but it's been fine till now? ...am at a loss.

Hi,
If the phones wifi feature was at issue then my thoughts would be that connecting to any wifi would offer up the same experience.
However if your phone connects fine at home and other users are experiencing similar issues then that would possibly point to the Gyms Wifi service.
Id try forgetting the wifi network in the phones settings and re set up the connection.
That said after a Firmware update and issues are being experienced then on an android phone a person can first clear the system cache which does not affect user data.
A last resort being creating a Back up and Factory resetting.

Well it seems the phone is on the blink as it froze the day after my post. I tried to restart it but kept on having to pull out the battery.
Tried to do a factory reset but if and when it fired up I couldn't gt into the settings quickly enough before it froze again!
Currently in for repairs so hopefully will be sorted soon and perhaps they may shed some light on what the problem was?
I reckon it's something to do with the recent software update.

Picked it up yesterday which was a very quick turnaround as was initially told it might not be ready by 15th March. So I was impressed by service as I took it in for repair on 2nd March.
Letter just states it has been repaired and given a full service plus software upgrade. It went on to say that most things can be fixed by software upgrade and closing down unnecessary apps.
I still think it was the recent upgrade that caused this but never mind.
Luckily I had done a full back up a couple weeks back as having issue with battery life. Now loaded everything back on and fingers crossed it's working a treat and the battery life seems prolonged. It was fully charged at 13.00 and mobile data been on all day as I was out and about and it's still at 50% 10 hours later. Not made any calls, just a few texts and facebook messages and email pick ups from 5 accounts so am happy. Beforehand it wouldve needed charging by now.
All in all a pat on the back for Vodafone customer service throughout the repair process.

That's good to know. Issues after an update can be down to bits of the old OS that are left behind in the cache, or the process not completing quite as it should, possibly due to resource issues. It's less likely that it's the actual update itself.
FWIW, I always clear the main cache (Settings|Storage) and recent apps and then restart the phone before any major update. That gives it as much of its resources and as few running processes as possible. So far, it hasn't let me down...

It seems likely. It's not so common now, but major updates quite often used to require a reset and it's the normal advice if you're experiencing issues after you've done one. FWIW, you can boot to the recovery console (volume + power) and you should be able to do a reset from there (though it's worth trying a clear of the system cache first as this is non-desctructive).
