Lock Screen

I have just installed the latest update for my GS4 and the screen now locks when I turn it off using the power key. I have looked in settings, lock screen, and checked the lock screen automatically with power key is not enabled. Help!

Hi 63johnw

Did exactly what you said, pressing the power button to get the black screen then pressed the power button againd and it takes me back to the homepage without the need for unlocking.

Right, i take it now you would like some sort of security  to protect your device?

Try settings,my device, lock screen, and select pin, then create a pin and make sure that once created the lock instantly box is unticked.  then go back to main screen and try the power button thing again.

It might also be worth looking at the "lock automatically" or "secured lock tiem" whichever you have and making sure that is not set to immediately.

For what it's worth mine is doing the exact same thing, and it's flipping annoying!
It's also decided to start corrupting new photos written to the sd card. The are fine until you leave the gallery and go back to take a look. The old s2 never missed a beat, sigh

The first thing to do would be to copy all your content off the sd card.  Now reformat it and see if that solves the issue.  If not, but some photos on the main memory of the phone.  Do they get corrupted in the same way?   If not, and reformatting the card hasn't solved the issue, I'd replace the card.   If you're still getting corruption on tha alternative location, it looks more like a phone issue and the first line of attack would be a factory reset.  That'll be done if you send it off for repair, so it's worth a try before you go down that route.

Dead card sadly, 64gb SanDisk Ultra - all of about 8 months old. Poop!

However after a reset the screen still locks instantly, regardless of security used (pin, pattern etc). Double poop!
