Mobile Broadband - K3520 keeps 'searching for network'

My dongle suddenly stopped working this morning when perfectly fine last night, now it won't even connect and continues to 'search for network' after a few minutes it then comes up with a message to register my sim card as it needs to be activated before it connects to a network. This is strange seeing as I've had my pay monthly mobile broadband for months now with no problems, could anyone shed any light on what has happened please?

Hi Jlocco and punkrockstar

As a quick test please can you both try putting the sims in a mobile phone to see if you latch onto the Vodafone network at all? It’s possible refreshing the connection through another device will help improve your connection.

Please let us know how this goes in both instances.

i have already tried this, is does not work, and to be honest, i reckon id be better with 2 paper cups and a piece of string than using vodafone mobile broadband coz it hasnt worked properly since i got it.

Hi punkrockstar101,

When you put the SIM into the phone, does the phone pickup the Vodafone network, or is it showing "No network" errors the same as the modem? We need to know this in order to correctly diagnose the problem.

It finds the network no problems at all, and if i remove and replace the dongle about 25 times it will eventually find the network and then boot me off shortly after.

Hi punkrockstar101,

If the SIM will connect fine in another device, whether it be a handset or another dongle, then we've ruled out the possibility of a network, account or SIm fault, which only leaves the dongle as the possible culprit.

In this case, I'd need to direct you to our repairs thread for more information.

Cheers,

I'm having a similar problem to Punkrockstar101. My dongle has previously worked in Australia, Spain & Malta. I'm currently in Malta and the dongle is "searching for network" and displays a solid red light (it's paid on contract if that matters). I've swapped my mobile sim and dongle sim and the mobile sim will find a network in the dongle but the dongle sim will not connect to Vodafone Malta in the mobile phone.

I've called support who said that the "Roaming Block" was off but they were putting it back on (which seems counterintuitive) but whatever.

Any suggestions?
