Mobile Broadband - Old Postpay sim in new K3565 (r2) dongle?

Hi,

I'm 14 months into my 24 month contract. It was originally a dell mini 9 (with build in 3g) with a 3GB allowance sim.

I catastrophically broke my mini 9 and have since replaced it with a different laptop. In order to make use of my mobile broadband I have only just purchased a new vodafone dongle (K3565 r2) from the website (£25 pay and go).

When I got it I pulled out the new pay and go sim, put in my old postpay sim and changed the APN settings from pp.internet to internet.

Unfortunately when I click to connect it just gets stuck constantly connecting.

Does anyone have any help they can provide?

Thanks,
James

Hi codename8778,

It seems like you've changed the APN correctly, so it should be working. Does the software give you a connection error eventually?

Have you tried closing down Vodafone Mobile Connect completely, and then connecting using the manual dial-up connection located in Control Panel > Network Connections? If so, do you get any error codes here?

Let me know any other information you think may be useful to our diagnosis :)

I left it trying to connect for about 3 minutes and gave up, so no sign of error message. I can leave it for longer if you like.

I'm not sure how I do a manual dial up connection, could you provide me with more info on how to do this?

Finally, could it be something to do with the sim card is quite old (over a year), I've heard that maybe the new dongles only like newer sim cards.

Is there any quicker way to get issues resolved? It takes days to get a reply

Hi Codename8778,

Please head over to our Mobile Broadband downloads page and download the latest Vodafone Mobile Connect Suite. Install and restart. After this, please retry.

Other than this, please try the SIM in a mobile phone - any luck with data connectivity? If all fails we can run further tests to see what's happening and get to the bottom of this!
