Mobile Hotspot - Activation Required

PAYG Blackberry Curve 9720 with 7.1 2994 has internet working but keeps getting "Activation Required..." error when trying to start Mobile Hotspot. Live chat did enable APN and an SMS arrived to confirm the settings - but the error still persists. Anyone know what the final piece of the puzzle is? APN is switched on with blank APN name, Username & Password.

Maybe try speaking to UK Customer service on 191 to ensure your account t has been activated for tethering.

And or

Process of elimination: Can U try ure Sim in another phone2 rule out either the Sim or Phone which may be at fault.

Hi, you cant normally do mobile hotspots on vodafone PAYG.

Very good point about Payg which I apologise as I missed that.

However customer services have helped the customer to set this up.

Is that it then? That PAYG customers can't do Hotspot and Vodafone Customer Service didn't know this? Arrrgh...

Possibly one of the few perks of being on a pay monthly contract.

I know O2 don't allow it either.

Why I'm not sure.

Payg customers pay for their data the same as contract customers.

Did live chat know you are Payg ?

Yes, two different Live Chat sessions - they knew it was PAYG but didn't twig. Wasted too much time on this & 191 was just full of dead-ends.
