Hi

I've broken my USB modem and so wondering what would be the cheapest option to replace it. I'm not long into my contract and I didn't take the insurance option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi PDJ.,

It's a shame to hear the dongle's broken, how did it happen?

No insurance is a real pain, you might be covered under your house insurance so that's an avenue worth exploring.

Apart from that, Purchasing a dongle from ourselves is an option, or maybe getting one from a well known auction site is another one for you.

If you decide to purchase one from ourselves, then a quick call to 191 will give you an idea on cost. And don't forget Insurance this time!!

It happened when my girlfriend managed to dislodge the device with her foot while it was connected to my laptop!

I managed to get another one via Ebay for £30 which is working perfectly.

I was told by someone in a Vodafone shop that the cheapest option to replace the modem would be to enter another contract and then cancel after one month allowing me to keep the modem. The cost of this was £65. I was told I couldn't by a pay as you go modem for £40 and put my contact sim in it because it apparently contained different software. This however did not seem the case since the one I bought off Ebay came with a pay as you go sim card.

Hope this helps people who might be in the same situation in the future.
