No 2G toggle still after ios8.1 upgrade

Hello,

Following the recent ios 8.1 upgrade the toggle to disable 3g/ enable 2g or edge should be visable, but it is not.

I had this option on my iphone 5 using the same vodafone simcard so maybe its not a vodafone issue but an apple issue.

I spoke with Apple and they are saying to speak to my carrier.

Any help please?

Its really useful to disable 3G when in a poor network coverage area.

Thanks! :Smiling:

Tumbleweed rolls by.....I guess that's a "nothing being done".

Hi @dmdrewitt

We currently don't have any information regarding this issue.

Thanks,

Sukhi

We are all asking that you contact people within your own company, in the managerial part of the technical department and find out WHY you won't alter the carrier settings.

I now have perfect 5 bars of 2G signal at home. So it is a carrier setting, not Apple.

It would just be nice for this to be available to all customers without having to resort to Jailbreak.

Each time I reboot I just have to go into iFile and turn the toggle again due to this not being part of the Vodafone carrier settings.

@Sukhi
Thanks for the reply. It still doesn't help understand whether anything will be done about this issue. As dmdrewitt mentioned, getting a tech management view on this would be good so that something can be done. I can't jailbreak as its a work rule not to do so on corporate paid subscriptions. Every Google search of this known issue points to the carrier settings.
To make a call, I resort now to putting the phone on the floor to lose the 1 bar-ish of 3G to switch the phone to 2G full signal. I'd like to see the Vodafone advert for that.

Hi guys,

As Sukhi has already posted we don't have any information currently about this.

If this changes we'll post on the eForum.

Thanks,

Ian

It's a shame Voda is so large that staff won't talk to each other from other departments.

I realise you have no info, we are asking for you to speak to Tech Management specifically about this issue to get the info and then come back to us with an answer.

Hi all, I don't have an iPhone and understand your frustration, on googling this problem it isn't only on Vodafone.

This link is from apple and it says if your network has 4G you won't have that option to toggle anymore, so is it not an apple issue??

Yes, it's clear that you don't have any information, but the real question is whether anything is being done, investigated etc so that you have more information to base some technical decisions on to resolve this. It's called troubleshooting. Otherwise this will just sit there and annoy your customers.
By doing a dig around, other carriers have resolved the issue, which seems to be very straight forwards.
